Why is it important to be in Golf Shape? What is the difference between being in shape and being in golf shape? You should have a golf fitness program, if you are serious about golf. Read on to find out why you need to get into golf shape.

Have you ever felt weak, tired, or worn out after the first 15 holes? Most average golfers cannot handle 18 holes because the muscles you use for golf are not muscles that you use in everyday activities. You use your abs, obliques, deltoids, lower back, arms, legs, and many other muscles in your body including those that are not worked out very often.

So you could be in great shape, but not in golf shape. In order to get in golf shape you will have to do exercises that have to do with the golf swing. This will include working out in a different way than what you are used to. There are a few rules to getting into golf shape. Read on to get the first 3 rules to getting into golf shape.

The first rule to getting into golf shape is to spend just as much time on golf fitness as you do on your actual swing. You need to balance your time so that you are hitting balls on the range just as much as you are working out with golf specific exercises. This will help you to get into the right shape and work on your swing all at the same time.

The second rule of getting in golf shape is to never hit on the range without stretching. Stretching will help you avoid injury, loosen up your muscles, and will prepare your body to swing the golf club correctly. You will always play better and more consistent golf after stretching.

The third rule for getting into golf shape is to begin your practice sessions close to the hole and work your way back. You should start with short putts, work to mid range putts, long putts, then chips. After you have done your chipping you can start hitting 30 yard shots, 50 yard shots, 100 yard shot, and keep working back until the driver is the last clubs that you hit.

Use these three rules along with the next 4 rules that are featured in the second part to this series of articles. These rules will help you gain strength in the muscles you need for your golf swing.

So what’s a girl to do? Simple… Follow our easy step-by-step guide to choosing the right styles of what to wear and what to avoid and you can look fabulous too. Choose from the following five body shapes that is the closest match to you.

If you have an apple shape

Women are said to be apple-shaped when they are larger around the tummy than average. Finding the right clothing can prove difficult because of this. Never wear baggy clothing in the hope of hiding your waistline as this will only make matters worse. Also avoid tight fitting clothing as these will also draw attention to your stomach.

Choose styles that draw the eye away from your stomach and styles and colours that have a slimming effect such as vertical patterns and black. Tailored clothing works well as do detailed tops and dresses. Finish of with some heels or wedges (to add height and lengthen your body) and some jewellery that attracts the eye.

If you have a pear shape

Women that are said to be pear-shaped are larger around the bottom half of their body then the top half. Which can mean finding flattering clothing somewhat difficult. Stay away from tighly fitting clothing and opt for flowing lines, layers and pleats. Choose styles that draw the eye away from your lower half by adding detailing to your top half.

If you have a pear shape

Hourglass-shaped women have larger breasts and hips relative to their waist and whilst considered by the most amount of people to be the most attractive of body shapes, care must be taken to look your best.

Stay away from bright or bold prints and full length tops and jackets that will make you look fuller then you actually are. Instead concentrate on showing off your smaller stomach with detailing around this area with fitted jackets, skirts and maybe add a belt for maximum visual effect.

If you have an inverted pear shape

Women that are said to have an inverted pear-shape when they are larger around the top half of their body than the bottom half. Try drawing the eye away from your bust by keeping the top plain and go more detailed on your lower half. A simple black top and some on-trend bleached jeans would work nicely.

Steer clear of shapeless floaty dresses and go for dresses that are fluted or flared and skirts give shape and definition to your bottom.

If you have a column shape

It doesn’t matter whether your 5 foot or 6 foot tall, column-shaped women are slender and proportioned to wear most styles. You may think that long straight clothing looks best but unless you have a flawless figure a shorter style will flatter you more.

If you’re this column-shaped but you are a bit wider then you’d like then choose clothing that will enlongate your figure and avoid overly boxy styles and go for drapes instead.

We’ve all heard of hourglass, apple and pear – but did you know there are actually 12 different female body shapes? Each one as unique and defined as the next, and all easy to identify. In this guide, we look at the 6 most common body types and give you some great tips on how to use your clothing to flatter and accentuate what mother nature gave you!

The Hourglass

If you’ve got big boobs, curvy hips and a nipped in waist then your hourglass figure is the envy of most women and the fantasy of most men! You have the most perfect womanly shape – do not hide it!

What to wear? You simply have to wear fitted clothing. You should clasp your curves and stretch your torso, so opt for V-neck cardigans and tight pencil skirts. A pointed stiletto could ruin the whole look to be sure to go for block heel rounded or peep toes for that Hollywood siren vibe!

The Pear

This is all about proportion, and certainly not weight. Your top half is trim and balanced but you have wide hips and thick thighs. You may also feel your legs, calves and ankles lack shape.

What to wear? Flat fronted trousers can be your best friend. If you want to wear skirts and dresses but aren’t happy with your legs, then go for a pair of straight boots. It’s best to avoid any patterns or pockets around the hips and waist. Wearing a feature belt over dresses or coats will put focus on your waist and create balance.

The Cello

You don’t do small. Big boobs, big bum and big thighs, but all with an air of feminine charm – you are all woman! Your neck and legs are toned and shapely.

What to wear? Those boobs will look fantastic in a wide V-neck and this can be seriously versatile. Go for fixed waist skirts with sewn down panelling to flatter your tummy. A wedge heel will support your frame whilst showing off those luscious ankles. Stand tall and proud in bold block colours.

The Lollipop

The envy of many, and perfect for the red carpet. In evening wear you’re sex on a stick – buxom boobs and slim legs that go on for miles! But daywear can be a little trickier, you find it hard to balance your shape.

What to wear? Bell bottom or bootcut trousers will balance out our big boobs, making you less top heavy. Try day dresses with isolated pleats to draw attention to your waist. Keep heels thin to match your legs.

The Cornet

You were a tomboy when you were younger, and as the years passed those curvy bits never did appear. Your triangle shape is not the most feminine and you seem to live in sportswear, jeans and vest tops. Little did you know that this is the very shape that is perfect for the catwalk!

What to wear? Your staple wardrobe item has to be a wrap or tea dress in a draping fabric and you can get away with any pattern you fancy! Skinny jeans are ideal for playing up those snake like hips. Heels should be delicate to focus on slim calves and exquisite ankles.

The Apple

The roundest of all the body shapes, and perfect for cuddling! You are usually the least confident but an apple shape is often just a little puppy fat or the dreaded middle age spread. Instead of draping yourself in yards of fabric, embrace your shape and adapt your style. Your body can easily be redefined if you choose the right clothing.

What to wear? Avoiding any extra bulk is key, so skirts and trousers should be side fastening and flat fronted. Traditional jeans aren’t great with apples but if you like your denim then try a tailored, wide leg denim trouser. A small shaped wedge is the perfect shoe to show off your shapely legs. Accessorise like crazy, the bigger the better!
